Future Plans
I choose Spanish as a pathway because it’s beneficial to be bilingual and a good skill to have. Spanish was my first language, growing up I started to speak more English and started to lose my fluency in Spanish that is another reason I chose Spanish as my pathway.
As high school went on I started to join many clubs trying to see what really interest me. During my junior and senior year I took classes like psychology, careers in education and accounting so I can have more background knowledge of each of those careers. Being a teacher was another career I was considering to go into so I job shadowed a fourth grade teacher. I found myself not liking the career as much as I did before. Taking careers in education was a good decision because it made me realize being a teacher wasn’t for me.
From the beginning of high school I didn’t know what career I wanted to pursue, not until I took accounting. Ever since I took accounting my senior year I have become more confident in the idea that I want to pursue a career in the business field. I have always had an open mind as to all of the possible careers out there and when my teacher started to explain that accounting has many careers you can go into, I was instantly fascinated. For one of our required papers in accounting, we had to research one of the many careers this field had to offer. I found myself really interested in being an accountant for the FBI because I was slightly leaning towards a career in the criminal justice field but was also very interested in business; this career brought both fields into one. I joined future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) and am preparing to compete in accounting this February, which will help build my background and real life experience in this field.
